Kevin Peer

Filmmaker

Kevin Peer’s documentary filmmaking career over the past 46 years has included the creation of three major visitor center films for the National Park Service and 11 internationally-broadcast films for National Geographic Television. The subjects explored in these films have ranged from the U.S. nuclear testing program in the Bikini Atoll to the meditative practice of Zen Archery; from the Navajo spiritual healing ceremony of sandpainting to the wildlife and pristine sanctuary of Denali National Park, Alaska; and from the joyous dance celebrations of the Wodaabe tribe of Niger, West Africa to the diverse life and endangered beauty of the Florida Everglades. His work has been seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world and has garnered over 40 national and international film festival awards, including 2 Emmy nominations by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He has also taught extensively at the workshop and university level on filmmaking as a path of service, exploration and personal awakening.

Kevin’s path as a filmmaker has been fueled by a deep sense of calling: to make and share films that promote wonder, understanding, and an engaged love for all beings, both human and non-human. The abiding passion throughout his journey has been to portray topics dealing with spirituality and the sacred in a manner that is engaging, coherent, and inspirational to a broad public audience.
